James Marshall served as Mayor from 2006-2014 and has served as Assistant Town Manager from 2014 to present.
He began working for Gila Regional Medical Center from 1987 as an Emergency Medical Technician, and held positions as a Ward Clerk, a security guard, paramedic, and then progressed to a Department Director. James’ journey with Gila Regional Medical Center led him to various fields such as public health, grant writing, and project management. He held the position of Project Development Director for many years before returning to his root in Emergency Medical Services as the Emergency Medical Services Director where he subsequently retired with 27 years of service.
In 2006 James was elected as Mayor of the Town of Silver City and served four two-year terms. While serving as Mayor he expanded his knowledge and skills through exposure to the broad range of topics involved in managing a municipality. In late 2014 James made a career decision to accept the position of Assistant Town Manager. He has been the Chairman of the Grant County Regional Dispatch Board for more than 10 years and also serves as a Trustee on the Gila Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees.
James brings his broad knowledge of leadership gained in healthcare and government operations, project development and management to the Town’s Executive Department.
