The
Territorial Charter for Silver City, New Mexico is a document that outlines the
legal framework and powers of the town government in Silver City. It was
enacted by the Territorial Legislature of New Mexico in 1878, and it outlines
the powers and duties of the town council, mayor, and other municipal
officials. The charter also establishes the boundaries of the town, and it sets
forth the procedures for conducting town meetings and elections. The charter is
an important document that provides the legal foundation for the governance of
Silver City and helps to ensure that the town is run in a fair and orderly
manner.
