Rules & Regulations

The Town’s Rules and Regulations are fully enforceable, and to the same extent as an Ordinance.

No Unauthorized Vehicles on Town Property

Per Town Ordinance granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision: Effective immediately unauthorized motor and off-road vehicles are prohibited on all Town-owned properties.

Violators will be cited.

No Camping on Town Property

Per Town Ordinance granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision: That NO CAMPING is allowed day or night, for any period of time on Town property.

Permit of Privileged Use of Town Right-of-Way

Organizations wishing to use or close Town streets for a public event must complete and successfully file a request for a permitted use of Town rights-of-way:

The completed form with required documents must be submitted to the Town Manager’s office. Upon approval from Town departments and Manager a special event permit must be obtained at the Community Development Department with the Code Enforcement Division.

Tent Rental Application & Agreement

WHEREAS, the Town of Silver City owns several large and small tents which are suitable for covering persons and equipment in outdoor use; and,

WHEREAS, there are non-profit entities within the Town and Grant County that occasionally sponsor outdoor events for public attention and fund-raising opportunities; and

WHEREAS, the Town wishes to make available to these non-profit entities the Town-owned tents under particular terms and conditions; and

WHEREAS, the applicant herein who has certified that it is a non-profit entity shall be entitled to rent the aforementioned tents upon a signed application and under the terms and conditions mentioned herein:

It is, therefore, agreed, that this form shall constitute both an Application and, upon signature of the Town Manager, a permission and rental agreement between the Applicant and the Town.

No Sleeping Will Be Allowed on the Sidewalks and Benches

Per Town Ordinance No. 1101 granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all Town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision:

NO SLEEPING ON SIDEWALKS AND BENCHES ALLOWED DOWNTOWN

Per Town Ordinance granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision:

No sleeping will be allowed on the sidewalks and benches in the downtown area of the Town of Silver City. The downtown area consists of Bullard Street, from College Avenue to San Vicente Street and Broadway Street from Cooper Street to Highway 90 (Hudson Street).

As part of the downtown area, one block to each side of Bullard Street and Broadway Street will be incorporated into this decision.

No Loitering Allowed at Town Parking Lot

Per Town Ordinance No. 1101 granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all Town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision:

That no loitering is allowed at any time at the Town’s parking lot adjacent to Gough Park at 12th and Pope St. Violators will be cited.

Per Town Ordinance granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all Town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision:

That all Town parks to include the parking lot adjacent to Gough Park close at 10 pm during the week and at 11 pm on weekends. Violators will be cited.
Per Town Ordinance granting the Town Manager authority to regulate all Town properties, the following is the Town Manager’s decision:

Skateboarding will be allowed on all Town of Silver City sidewalks, except for Bullard Street, from College Avenue to San Vicente Street; and on Broadway Street, from Cooper Street to Highway 90 (Hudson Street).

Skateboarders will continue to be required to follow all Town and State of New Mexico Laws for the use of skateboards. The Town Manager stresses that skateboarders be courteous to pedestrians on sidewalks, as per the law, pedestrians have the right-of way on these sidewalks.
